Jennifer Lopez flawlessly embodies her character Ramona in the highly anticipated movie Hustlers and critics predict that this role just may land her an Oscar nomination.
Hey guys it’s Vivian Fabiola and I don’t know about you guys, but I’ve been counting down the days for Hustlers to hit the big screen, and it’s finally here! Starring Jennifer Lopez, Constance Wu, Keke Palmer, Lili Reinhart and Cardi B this heist film as all around pure fun.
As you guys know, the story follows a group of dancers who team up to rob rich and wealthy wall street men. While all the ladies have been praised by critics for their natural onscreen poise in their corresponding demanding roles, JLo’s portrayal of the leader of the pack is what has critics raving. I watched the movie at a special screening a few days ago and boy did my jaw drop. Without ruining it for you guys with any spoilers, let’s just say there’s a reason she’s a favorite when it comes to entertaining. Yes, JLO has extensive dance experience BUT, pole dancing is a whole other monster.
She previously confessed to feeling nervous when filming that risqué scene on the pole in which she wore nothing but a g-string. She went through 6-months of rigorous pole dancing training and even took a pole with her on tour. JLo actually posted a video on her YouTube channel giving us an inside look as to what that training looked like. She captioned her tease post saying, “Life begins at the end of your comfort zone… This was definitely one of the hardest things I’ve ever done physically. But it was all worth it in the end.”
And while her performance as Ramona seemed effortless, the Bronx diva proved once again why she is total powerhouse. In that same bts video she claimed this was one of her most challenging roles EVER! And well, aside from all the dancing, the girls go on a roller coaster of emotions in this movie. They go from being bad and reckless to caring and family oriented. It’s a total adventure. What I really enjoyed about the film was how well each and every one of the girls’ stories were told.
People’s perception of strippers will definitely change after this movie. That daily hustle of making ends meet NO matter what, may bring you to tears, so don’t say I didn’t warn you. But why exactly does JLo’s performance stand out from the others? Well, her girl power, and women-can-do-anything attitude radiates through the big screen. When asked about her possible Academy Award Nab during an interview with Sirius XM, JLO teared up…:33-:40
“I’ve just been working hard for so long, for my whole life, so it’s nice,” she said. She paused, tearing up. “Sorry, you guys know that I’m emotional!”
