Dr Helen Pankhurst: Current maternity rules for cabinet ministers are ‘ridiculous’

Women’s rights activist Dr Helen Pankhurst says the current rules on maternity leave for Cabinet ministers are ‘ridiculous’.

The government is to update the law so that Attorney General Suella Braverman can take six months’ paid leave.

Under current legislation, she would have to resign in order to take time off following the birth.
