North Korea has largely been cut off from the rest of the world since the Korean War ended in July 1953. The country lives under what they call a β€˜Juche’ philosophy, an extreme political system with a culture that places an emphasis on strength, independence and self-reliance. Of course, to most outsiders, North Korea simply looks like a cult of personality, based around the Kim dynasty.

So how do teenagers live their day to day lives in such a culture? How do they engage with normal teenage activities, from dating to discovering alcohol, schooling to entertainment?
