The Taliban shocked the world when they swept to power in Afghanistan. The last time they ruled the country, they did so with an iron fist, severely curtailing human and women’s rights.
But they also allowed terror groups like al Qaeda to operate freely in the country, leading to major terror attacks like 9/11 and 7/7.
