Campaigner loses battle in court over disability screening and abortion

The High Court has dismissed a case that was brought by a 26-year-old woman with Down’s Syndrome who’d argued that the current regulations around abortion discriminate against people like her.

The judges found the legislation is legal and aims to balance the rights of women and the unborn child. But Heidi Carter, who brought the case, maintains that’s wrong and says she will fight on.
