COVID-19: Mask wearing reintroduced in England to tackle new variant

Fresh measures designed to deal with the emergence of the new COVID-19 variant Omicron have come into force in England.

Mask wearing is now compulsory in shops, hairdressers, post offices and banks – and on public transport – unless you are exempt.

Health minister Gillian Keegan says a plan for rolling out booster jabs to all adults will be revealed in the coming days.
