BREAKING: Nicola Sturgeon introduces new restrictions from Boxing Day and cancels Hogmanay

Scotland’s First Minister Nicola Sturgeon has introduced new measures from Boxing Day with limits on public events in Scotland – 200 for indoor, and 500 for outdoor, with social distancing in place.

Ms Sturgeon says this will include sporting events and “large scale” Hogmanay celebrations – including Edinburgh’s street party – but not events like weddings.

It means that sporting stadia will be empty from Boxing Day onwards, with games being played behind closed doors.

Indoor hospitality will be moved to table service only, with social distancing implemented. No more than three households will be allowed to gather.
