The Indian Railways ran the country's longest and heaviest freight train on Independence Day, as part of efforts to ease transport difficulties. The train was operated by South Eastern Central Railway (SECR)
The Korba-Rajnandgao freight train, which is 3.5 km long and carries 295 wagons full of coal, made its way from Korba in Chhattisgarh to Rajnandgao in Nagpur on August 15th.
The Train Has 6 Engines, 295 coaches and it takes 4 minutes to pass a Platform
According to a press release by PTI, the Railways will be using these trains more frequently, especially during periods of peak demand in order to prevent shortfalls of coal supply at power stations.
Super Vasuki can carry 27000 tonnes of coal in one journey. This is three times the amount carried by a railway rake that contains 90 carriages with 100 tonnes of coal in each carriage.
