Emiru ASSAULTED at TwitchCon 2025

TwitchCon 2025 is officially in hot water after popular streamer Emiru was assaulted on camera during a meet-and-greet in San Diego. A now-viral clip shows a man jumping security barriers and grabbing her face, trying to kiss her before her personal bodyguard stepped in—not TwitchCon staff. Emiru later called out the event’s weak response, saying nearby security did nothing and the guy wasn’t even detained until hours later. Twitch claimed “safety is our top priority,” but Emiru fired back, calling that “a blatant lie”—and she’s far from the only creator speaking out.

This isn’t TwitchCon’s first safety scandal, either. Between broken backs in foam pits, livestreamed harassment, and big names like Valkyrae and Hasan Piker skipping the con altogether, creators have been raising red flags for years. Fans and streamers alike are pointing to a deeper issue: parasocial dynamics turning creepy when internet fame meets real-life access. With public outrage growing and trust in Twitch taking yet another hit, people are asking the big question—can a platform built on being “always online” ever actually protect the people who power it?
