Really, guys, for a band that’s been broken up for four years now, One Direction sure does know how to keep their name in the headlines. And yes, this one involves some drama that was recently uncovered about the boys from way back in the day.
What’s up guys it’s Emile Ennis Jr. here with Clevver News and we just found out that apparently, back when One Direction was just getting together to form the biggest boy band of the decade, two members really hated each other.
Liam Payne did a little interview with Hits Radio on Wednesday where he talked about his new song “Stack It Up”, his work with Ed Sheeran, and his intimate – or sometimes not so intimate – relationships with his former bandmates.
Liam reveals that when One Direction first formed in 2010, he found himself at odds with Louis Tomlinson in particular. In fact, he says that they “absolutely hated each other”.
SOT –“He was the oldest and I’ve been singing for quite a little bit of time, we both got put in a weird position because he wanted to be the leader and obviously I was doing my thing and wanted to. At first we didn’t get on at all. We absolutely hated each other, it was so funny.”
Sooo they both wanted to be the frontman, The Justin Timberlake if you will, of One Direction. Which, if you think about it, makes sense since they all met on X Factor UK as solo acts.
So I can see why they might have butted heads in the beginning since they both individually joined the X Factor hoping to break out in solo careers.
But he said that they both came into their own when they realized that they both had different but equal parts and responsibilities in the band.
And honestly, thank god that they worked it out. Because today they are total bromance goals.
Liam went on during the radio show interview to say that Louis one of the only One Directioners to reach out to him on his birthday, Niall also reached as well! Hopefully Louis hit Niall back for his own birthday just last week.
Liam also said that of all the One Direction boys, he probably talks to Louis the most of all of them. Liam said quote, “He’s been through so much and we’ve been through so much together,” he said. “if he has a problem he’ll call me”.
When Louis was sick a few days ago and had to cancel an appearance before a concert to rest, Liam went to visit him backstage to make sure that his friend was doing well.
In fact, it was Louis’s first solo headlining gig! So it was a big night for him – and Liam was right by his side. They both performed that night at the Coca Cola Music festival in Madrid, Spain.
A Liam fan account tweeted out later that night – “Liam Payne was supposed to do interviews for a Spanish radio yesterday before the show but was feeling too sick and his team wanted him to rest for the performance. When he heard Liam was sick, Louis Tomlinson went and met him backstage
See, I told you, bromance goals.
Though the two hid their hatred for each other pretty well during the early days of One Direction, they’re pretty good at showing us their friendship now.

In the interview, Liam said that Louis has been through a lot and that it’s “only helped him emerge as a person more”.
You know that a few years ago when Louis’s mom passed away in 2016, he had a featured performance on The X Factor UK just days afterwards.
All of the boys except for Zayn attended the show in support of Louis. Afterwards, Louis said in an interview “I’ve got goosebumps now. It was just seeing everyone there – Harry, Niall, and Liam – that was what I needed that night, that support.”
And the two have remained supportive of each other ever since. Of course, there was some tension after the X Factor performance when Zayn didn’t show up to support Louis. There was some animosity brewing there for a few years before Zayn decided to leave the group, and Louis has said that their relationship was never quite the same.
In the recent interview that Liam did, the interviewers asked him if he’s ever jealous of any of his old bandmates and he replied that since they do very different work, there isn’t a lot of room to feel jealous of other people.
Liam also gives props to Harry and said that his recent Gucci campaign is one of the best things he’s ever done.
That’s coming from someone who is currently teasing a secret project that somehow involves his bare butt and abs.

Also, his song “Stack It Up” just dropped today – so it looks like he’s got a lot going on. And he absolutely deserves it!
