Well the Emmys are over – the red carpet has been rolled up, the trophies have been given away, and tuxedo shops all over LA are having a busy day as people return their rentals. But we have to break down the all the biggest, shocking, and funny moments you may have missed from the show.
What’s up guys it’s Emile Ennis Jr. here with Clevver News and if you missed catching the Emmys last night don’t you worry because I’m here to catch you up on everything that you didn’t see.
So this year’s show had no host, but opened with Homer Simpson who almost lived his impossible dream.
Luckily Anthony Anderson briefly took over before he had Bryan Cranston open the show to talk about the power of television. At one point he says “50 years later and television still transports us to far away places, like Winterfell, the Upside Down, even Paradise.” And for this moment they had a shot of Hannah G and Dylan hugging after he proposed on Bachelor In Paradise.
Dylan ended up tweeting, “I was just trying to fall in love not end up on the Emmys ?
#Emmys2019 #BachelorInParadise”
Love them, but something else that people loved was Natasha Lyonne clapping. Yes, we have a new favorite gif to send as the perfect reaction in all of our group chats.
This user said, “Natasha Lyonne’s clapping tonight… I will think about nothing else for a week. #Emmys”
And then there was this “natasha lyonne clapping that’s it that’s the tweet.”
Later in the show, Jimmy Kimmel and Stephen Colvbert addressed the whole no host thing, and they did a whole bit about how this has gone too far. And Stephen Colbert then made a good point that made us chuckle.
Now if you watched the Emmys, or even if you didn’t, you’ve probably heard by now that the audience laughed at Kim and Kendall on stage. It happened as they were introducing the outstanding competition series and you have to check it out.
It was extremely uncomfortable to watch because the audience laughed, but I don’t think Kim and Kendall were in on the joke. However, even though everyone is talking about that moment. I noticed something that no one is really talking about.
Kim almost fell on stage y’all. As Kim and Kendall were walking to present, Kim trips over her dress and if you blink, you might miss it.
Did you see it? Let’s roll it back.
Kendall had a good laugh from it, but she walks runways all the time, so walking in a tight dress is second nature to her.
Surprisingly, only a few people managed to see the stumble, but to be fair she played it off well. Looks like she’s been hanging out with Jennifer Lawrence a little too much.
But moving on, nothing was more comfortable than Viola Davis wearing sneakers in her Alberta Ferretti gown.
Okay, yes, she had on some black heels on the red carpet
So who can blame her for doing a little costume change in the name of comfort?
Julia Louis Dreyfus channeled president Selena Meyer as she reunited with her Veep Cast on stage.
Lilly Singh channeled an emerald at her first Emmy Awards.
And Gwendoline Christie channeled Jesus while standing on stage with her fellow Game of Thrones cast members.
Busy Phillips and Michelle Williams were bff goals when Michelle won the award for outstanding actress in a limited series or tv movie for Fosse/Verdon.
And she used her win to advocate for equal pay for equal work.
And Michelle wasn’t the only person to use her first Emmy win to stand up for something she believes in.
Jharrel Jerome from “Now They See Us” used his speech to talk about the “exonerated five” – the 5 men that were the focus of the Limited Series that he won for.
We also got speeches from RuPaul reminding us all to register to vote. Alex Borstein reminded women to step out of line every once in a while, and Patricia Arquette advocated for transgender rights to safety and work.
Someone else tweeted, “The sound was off, but that shot of Billy Porter in the audience w Ru Paul on the crowded stage was interesting.”
And that is pretty much what you missed! Until next time when we see you at the People’s Choice Awards in a few weeks, at least.
But now I want to hear from you. What was your favorite part of the Emmys this year? Who do you think should have won that didn’t? Is there a moment that you think people should know about? Let me know in the comment section below.
