Donald Trump launched a direct attack on his former national security adviser John Bolton on Wednesday amid signs that the Senate majority leader, Mitch McConnell, does not have Republican votes locked down to block Democrats’ efforts to call Bolton as a witness in the president’s impeachment trial.
