The government has promised more testing for coronavirus in care homes in England after serious concerns about the number of deaths of residents. Ministers have promised testing for both residents and staff and for anyone being discharged from hospital to a care home. But there are questions about how realistic the proposals are, given the slow progress towards meeting the target of 100,000 coronavirus tests each day in the NHS.
