Aaron Rodgers has tested positive for COVID-19 and will miss the Packers’ game against the Chiefs on Sunday, according to NFL Network’s Tom Pelissero.
Ian Rapoport, also of the NFL Network, reported that Rodgers is unvaccinated against the virus, meaning he will miss a minimum of 10 days even if he tests negative for the virus. The timeline potentially allows him, though, to return for the Packers game against the Seahawks on Nov. 14.
In the offseason, when asked if he had received the vaccine, Rodgers said he had been “immunized” – but did not specifically say he got the jab.
“I’m not going to judge those guys (who haven’t been vaccinated,” Rodgers said in late August. “There’s guys that have been vaccinated that have contracted COVID, so it’s an interesting issue that I think we’re going to see played out the entire season.”
The star quarterback is coming off a victory over the then-undefeated Cardinals without stud receiver Davante Adams, who also tested positive for the virus. The win brought the team to 7-1, good for the best record in the NFC.
