A report submitted in January to the UK government warned of the dangers that would occur in Afghanistan if the troops were to withdraw.
Baroness Smith was a member of the International Relations and Defence Select Committee, which submitted the report to the Government.
She told Sky News that once the UK government read the warning that Afghanistan could descend into civil war, they replied, ‘It is a challenge we’ll have to face.’
