Alexei Navalny arrives in Germany for suspected poisoning treatment

Russian opposition leader flown to Berlin after doctors allow discharge from Siberian hospital

An air ambulance carrying the Russian opposition activist Alexei Navalny has landed at Berlin’s Tegel airport, according to flight tracking data.

German doctors had flown to the Siberian city of Omsk on Friday to evacuate Navalny, a long-time opponent of the Russian president, Vladimir Putin, at the request of his wife and allies so he could receive treatment for a suspected poisoning that has left him in a coma for 36 hours.
