It’s officially been a year since “Thank U, Next” hit you like a ton of bricks and you were like, “wow #relatable”, but Ariana Grande is breaking down what the anniversary means to her and what she’s learned along the way.

What’s up guys, it’s Emile Ennis Jr. back here on Clevver News, and I know it’s not exactly the end of the year when you do all the reflecting and resolution setting, but Ariana Grande, being the overachiever that she is, got a bit of a head start on us all.

First off, a MAJOR Happy Birthday is in order for her smash hit, jaw-dropping single, “Thank U, Next.”

Although I can’t remember exactly where I was when I heard it, I do recall shedding a tear or two from basically being hit in the feels with the equivalent of what I can only imagine her massive ponytail would be.

Between the name dropping of the exes, the ode to Mac Miller and the all-around miss independent vibes… this track was probably the pinnacle of Ari’s career and not only struck a chord with fans, but also gave her a newfound ‘wholesome’ feel.

Ari posted a series of tweets giving her pride and joy anthem many shoutouts. She started off by saying, “happy birthday ‘thank u, next’. i can’t believe i’ve spent more time alone this year than i have in my life, i can’t believe how many sessions w my therapist i’ve had, how many times i’ve sung this song, how much i’ve learned and healed, how much i still have to learn and heal!”

She went on to add, “it’s been one hall of a productive, emotional, wild and yet … happy! year. thankful for my babies who have provided me with endless strength, energy and inspiration… and to my friends who have held me together on the road and at home. i’m sure they’re just as exhausted lmao.”

Annnnd it wouldn’t be a complete Ariana tweet without a bit of self deprecation… she added that she’s still just as clueless when it comes to the subject of “love” and well, SAME!

She said, “update: i still don’t know about love or have a clue what a personal life looks like other than hanging with pups and piggy which i’ve learned is … actually … more than enough!”

In her final tweet, Ari revealed QUOTE, “my heart feels good. Even though everything is up in the air. I still have a million questions… I’ve accepted it and feel somewhat whole and that feels like something worth sharing.”

Okay, I’m just going to need a minute to collect my feelings… Ari girl you give me strength!

‘Thank You, Next’ was released shortly after her 5-month engagement to Pete Davidson ended, and was the perfect rebound without actually having a rebound.

It was probably her most vulnerable song to date, so the emotional Twitter rant kinda makes sense if you really think about it.

And we can’t forget that it was just a few weeks after “Thank U, Next” was released, that Ari then dropped the EPIC music video filled with scenes from only the best RomComs out there, like Legally Blonde, Mean Girls, Bring It On and 13 Going on 30.

Oh, and the Kris Jenner cameo is basically everything.

ALSO, shout out to Kris Jenner because today is her birthday! Happy Birthday Mama Kris.

Anyways, back to Ari… the video went on to break the record for most simultaneous viewers on a YouTube premiere, soooo need I say more?

But not only is the track about moving on from an ex, but Ari also gave mention to her late boyfriend Mac Miller after he died from an accidental overdose in 2018.

During one of her “Thank U, Next” tour dates in Pittsburgh, which happens to be Mac’s hometown, Ari went speechless during a few lines of the song when she got choked up, when her fans came to the rescue and finished the lines for her.

Ok, so now I’m crying, but based on this video alone, it’s clear that Ariantors have this girl’s back probably until the end of time.

Not like you needed convincing, but this was undoubtedly Ariana Grande’s year, and if she can make this much of an impact in a year, who knows what she’ll accomplish next year… it’s gettin’ me all excited just thinking about it, but now I gotta hear from you guys.

Do you remember your reaction to “Thank U, Next?” And what did you think about Ari’s sweet dedication to the song? Get to talking down here in the comments.
