The incident took place on August 21, 2019 at the Wilpattu National Park. Footage shot from a watching vehicle shows a jackal wandering down a forest road, seemingly unaware of the leopard stealthily camouflaged behind the bushes, waiting to ambush it. As the jackal reaches within a striking distance, the big cat pounces on it and tries to catch it by the neck.
