Prices for mint, older BMW M models are constantly increasing, just like it’s the case with the BMW E39 M5 we’re showing you today. This car has only 9,000 miles on the clock and comes in a rare color for the BMW E39 M5. But does that justify the price tag of $150,000?

I’ll be the first to say that I love the E39 M5. In my book, it’s the best M5 ever made and it’s mostly down to the engine. That 4.9-liter S62 V8 is absolutely marvelous in terms of power delivery, refinement and sound. Then there’s the looks too, with the E39 M5 being one of the best looking M5 ever made. Its shape is still fascinating to this day and that’s yet another reason why people love it.

Prices of mint M5 models have been steadily going up but this might just be the most expensive model of the E39 generation I’ve seen to date. Admittedly, it is dressed in Imola Red and that is a rare color on the M5, so that adds some value to it. It’s also interesting that for nearly $50,000 less, you could get a brand new F90 M5. Sure, it won’t have the same allure as the old model, but it’s an interesting proposition.

If you want to buy it, you can find the car over at the Enthusiast Auto Group and at this price point, those who will actually be interested in buying will most likely be collectors. And that’s a shame because the BMW E39 M5 is meant to be driven, not kept hidden away in a garage.
