A truck contracted by the city Department of Transportation exploded into flames early Wednesday in the Bronx — sparking a raging fire just underneath the elevated subway tracks, officials said.
The box truck, which was carrying flammable materials, caught fire around 5:30 a.m. on Dyre Avenue near Light Street in Eastchester, police and fire officials said.
Video from the scene shows the white truck, which was contracted for a DOT project, completely engulfed in flames. Another clip captures the heavy fire and smoke visible from the elevated No. 5 train station at Eastchester-Dyre Avenue.
