Angelina Jolie and Brad Pitt’s oldest son Maddox, who now attends college in South Korea, has stayed visibly close with his mom, but things remain tense with his dad and it doesn’t seem like that is going to change any time soon.
Hey everyone, welcome back to Clevver News, I’m Sussan Mourad and it looks like Maddox Jolie-Pitt is still keeping his distance from his dad Brad Pitt.
A source told Us Weekly that Angelina was getting involved and has quote, “been trying to heal the rift between father and son,” but her efforts weren’t going anywhere.
The source also added quote, “Maddox hasn’t been receptive to them. And for Brad, it’s a tremendous loss.”
The source previously said that quote, “Maddox doesn’t really see himself as Brad’s son.”
Maddox has also spoken about his dad in a way that made it clear they aren’t close anymore.
In a short video obtained by In Touch Weekly in September, a reporter caught up with Maddox in South Korea and asked him about his new life as a college student.
Maddox was asked, “What about your dad is he going to come and visit?” to which he said, “Um I don’t know about that.”
So while it doesn’t sound like he’s totally opposed to seeing his father in South Korea sometime soon, it doesn’t exactly seem like they’re on the road to recovery.
The paparazzi kept probing and asked Maddox, “Is your relationship with him sort of over?” And Maddox bluntly responded saying quote, “Well whatever happens happens.”
Clearly whatever went down on that plane and throughout that divorce, had a lasting effect on Maddox.
Meanwhile, Maddox’s mom Angelina had amazing things to say about him during her London Maleficent 2 premiere.
She told Entertainment Tonight that she’s so proud of the man he has become.
She said quote, “I’m so happy for him that he has grown up into such a good man. I say that ’cause he’s smart and he’s doing his work but he’s also wild. He’s balanced in his teenage years.”
So it’s nice to see that Maddox is still so close with his mom after everything their family has been through.
But it’s not just Maddox and Brad’s relationship that’s strained. It’s been reported that Brad’s relationship with their second oldest child, Pax, isn’t in a great place either.
But Brad hopes that Maddox being away at college can help change that.
The source said quote, “With Maddox overseas, Brad is also hopeful that Pax will also be interested in reconnecting without the influence of his older brother.”
Hopefully they are able to work things out privately, I know these family issues must be very challenging to work through while in the public eye.
Speaking of which, while Brad and Angelina are legally single, they apparently still haven’t settled their divorce, three years after the original filing.
The Blast reported that the reason behind the struggle to settle the divorce is money.
The couple is allegedly asking for more time to figure out how to split their multi-million dollar fortunes.
And in case you didn’t know Angelina’s net worth is around $100 million and Brad’s is estimated to be $300 million.
According to The Blast, Brad requested the couple have the ongoing discussion move forward with a private judge, which LA County Courts will allow, as long as Brad and Angelina pay for the judge’s time themselves.
The outlet also reported that quote “talks are going smoothy” and will continue privately.
The couple has already agreed on a custody agreement for their six children and are just sorting out finances and property.
Apparently Brad and Angelina quote “co-mingled a lot of their wealth” during their 12-year relationship, and they have been stuck on figuring out what to do about their French winery that they co-own.
