BTS just took being compared to The Beatles to a whole new level. And it was EPIC.
What’s up guys? It’s Sussan Mourad here with Clevver News and we’re here to break down BTS’s EPIC performance last night on The Late Show with Stephen Colbert.
Fresh off the heels of their first Good Morning America performance, where the group spoke on being compared to The Beatles, the boys appeared on The Late Show for the first time and gave yet another history-making performance.
And I think the comparison to The Beatles is more than fair. The boys of BTS are definitely the new kings of pop and literally have fans weak in the knees!
I mean no other fans are sleeping in the streets for days to see their favorite artists the way the BTS ARMY does, are they??
And we respect it.
The Late Show pulled out all the stops to recreate the time in 1964 when the Beatles – John, Paul, George and Ringo, were there performing!
They fully transformed the Ed Sullivan Theater, where the show tapes, to make it look like it did back in 1964 when The Beatles made their U.S. television debut on The Ed Sullivan Show.
And it was seriously SO spot on.
The suits the boys wore looked EXACTLY like the suits the Beatles wore, the drum set said “BTS” in the classic Beatles font, the whole video was shot in black and white, and even the audience members were dressed up to look like it was the 60’s!
But it didn’t end there.
As if it couldn’t get any better than that, Colbert dressed up as Ed Sullivan and was fully in character. I mean, that was really the icing on the cake for me. I am all her for this level of commitment!
With 3 number one albums in less than a year, something that hasn’t been achieved by a group since the Beatles, the boys of BTS don’t take the comparison to the Beatles lightly. On GMA, RM said quote, “I mean, we’re all fanboys of The Beatles, of course, who is not. We feel so honored to be with the greatest names in the music industry—we love The Beatles of course.”
So I’m sure they had just as much fun with this re-make as I did watching it.
And I wasn’t alone. Fans on twitter were loving this comparison.
One ARMY member wrote quote, “Seriously, the coverage of BTS on Colbert has been SO positive! The show created the opportunity for a moment, and the boys massively delivered.”
While others are using the hashtag BTS Mania similar to Beatles Mania from back in the 60’s. A fan tweeted quote, “This was such a fantastic production! Thank you so much! They looked amazing in Black & White. I laughed, giggled, I cried, I cheered! BTS, you were amazing! #BTSonLSSC #BTSmania #BTS”
Alright now I want to hear from you! What did you think of this BTS performance? And do you love the comparison of BTS to The Beatles?
