BTS’ V just shared with his fans that he suffers from a skin condition that makes him “itchy itchy” and we’ve done research to find out what’s going on with our guy V. Make sure you have a place to sit, because this news is WILD!
What’s up guys? It’s Sussan Mourad here with Clevver News and V told fans on social media that he has a skin condition called cholinergic urticaria (COLON-ER-GICK URT-I-CARRY-AH) that makes him “itchy itchy,” and it’s triggered by things that make the performer’s body temperature rise.
V revealed the condition when he responded to a fan on BTS Weverse who said it looked like he was “tickling” himself.
V said, translated from Korean to English, quote, “No, I have a cholinergic allergy. I’m itchy, itchy.”
The official medical name for the condition is cholinergic urticaria (COLON-ER-GICK URT-I-CARRY-AH), which causes itchy hives that are caused by a rise in body temperature.
According to WebMD, the itchy hives can be brought on by things like working out, taking a hot shower, or, in V’s case, maybe performing on stage under hot lights in front of thousands of fans.
WebMD also explained that the symptoms of cholinergic urticaria (COLON-ER-GICK URT-I-CARRY-AH) usually last around 30 minutes, though the bumps can last for as long as four hours.
The itchy bumps usually appear on the neck, chest, face, upper back, and arms, though they can show up anywhere on the body.
Treatment for V’s condition usually includes lifestyle changes to avoid triggers that could cause a flare-up.
But for people like V who might not be able to avoid these triggers, there are medications available.
Fans on social media have commented on how challenging it might be for V to deal with his condition given his crazy tour schedule and strenuous performances.
One person wrote quote, “i used to have cholinergic urticaria it drove me crazy,,, how does tae handle it with all the dancing and their hectic schedule???”
And another tweeted that this is probably why V, who’s real name is Kim Taehyung, wears loose clothing saying quote, “Taehyung told us today that he has cholinergic urticaria so that’s why he wears wide/loose clothes and no shoes. I can’t imagine how uncomfortable he must be while performing when he has to wear tight clothes and gets hot/sweaty, it must be low key painful for him. Poor baby :(“
Luckily the condition doesn’t seem to be dangerous, just more uncomfortable for our poor V.
Thankfully though, with the BTS Army behind him, V has all the support he needs.
