Cameron Boyce’s sister is speaking out for the first time after his death – and the work that she’s doing is sure to inspire you.

What’s up guys its Emile Ennis Jr. here with Clevver News and Maya Boyce, Cameron’s younger sister, is carrying on Cam’s legacy and bringing to light his true passion in life!

And you’ll be surprised it wasn’t acting, although that was a close second!

In a video interview with Refinery29, Maya tells a story that Cameron had wanted to tell his entire life.

She shares his message of “Wielding Peace” – a collection of images that feature people from all walks of life wielding ‘guns’. The catch is, the ‘guns’ that we’re using as props will be items that signify unity and peace”

SOT 0:32 – “He just talked about how heartbroken he is about all the mass shootings … he really did want to do something about it.”

While he was alive, Cameron was no stranger to activism

He was an advocate for sexual assault survivors, gun control, and famine relief

And now Cameron’s family gets to continue his legacy, especially Maya. She is yet another young voice pleading for gun control.
SOT – “I think the most rewarding part about this whole project is to carry on Cameron’s activism” 1:54-2:01

She was able to finish his project of Wielding Peace by getting people together for a photo series that spoke to the masses on the dangers of guns.

She grabbed herself a hairdryer and some flowers to speak her message of peace.

And other people in this photo series grabbed guitars, cameras, yoga mats, and tennis rackets to chime into the conversation.

SOT – “Unfortunately I think after he died that was the most eyes on him and on us”.

She might be right. Cameron currently has over 15 million followers on Instagram, which is much more than he had before his passing. And I couldn’t think of a better way to honor his legacy.

His fans think so too.

One of them commented on Maya’s video, saying “That was really powerful, if I was her I would just be crying all over the place. I admire her strength to carry with her brother’s projects with such dedication. Youth shouldn’t be just the future but the present! So, we better all hold up our blow drivers up to the sky.”

Another said “What an incredible family. They must be so proud to have raised such an amazing young man. I’m tearing up right now, that was so powerful. RIP Cameron. Your work lives on”

Nobody is as big of a fan of Cameron as Maya though.

Through all of his roles and his fame on Disney, the two have always maintained a really close friendship

And Cameron’s father fully supports this as well. He said “His legacy is important to us because we don’t want him to be remembered as just an actor or some Disney kid. Because he was so much more than that.”

They also created the Cameron Boyce foundation to provide young people artistic and creative outlets as alternatives to violence and negativity. The foundation uses resources and philanthropy for positive change in the world.

So something tells me that he won’t just be remembered as a Disney kid after all.

What do you guys think? Did you like Maya’s candidness about her older brother? What would you use as a tool of peace in your photo?
