If you’ve ever wondered what it’s like to live on Mars, head to Devon Island. It’s easy to see why people find it impossible to make a home here: the soil stays frozen throughout the seasons. The only way to reach the Pitcairn Islands is to take a 32-hours yacht ride. No wonder only 50 people are known to live here. To visit the remotest village in the whole world, you’ll need to prepare yourself for quite the journey. From the United States, for example, the easiest route involves a 15-hour flight to Cape Town, South Africa, followed by a six-day boat ride to reach Tristan da Cunha. Let’s explore these and other unique places.
