Coronavirus: Why France has acted as European leaders battle COVID-19 for a second time

France gathered across the nation to watch President Macron outline new rules starting that will restrict their freedom once again due to the coronavirus pandemic as Europe battles the second wave.

The country has the highest number of cases in Europe.

All non-essential businesses will be forced to close, including restaurants, bars and many shops but schools and creches will remain open with masks being made a rule for those aged six or over.
