Dr Zahid Chauhan hasn’t been able to take time off since the start of the pandemic. His role as a doctor and cabinet member for health and social care in Oldham Council means he has spent his time treating patients and influencing policy.
Although Dr Chauhan says he feels “privileged and honoured” to have worked through the pandemic, the 44-year-old has witnessed both patients and colleagues dying, causing him to feel ‘really, really low’.
