COVID-19: Moderna boss says all vaccines will be less effective against Omicron

The heads of Moderna and Pfizer say they should know in two to six weeks whether the current vaccines will work against Omicron.

There are fears that the number of mutations on the spike protein will render the vaccines ineffective – or less effective – against the new variant.

Stephane Bancel, head of Moderna, said there were early indications his company’s vaccine would be less effective.
