‘Daniel Morgan deserved better’: Home Secretary announces review into police conduct body

The Home Secretary has announced a review of the IPOC – the Independent Office for Police Conduct – after a report into the death of private investigator Daniel Morgan accused the Metropolitan Police of “a form of institutional corruption”.

Mr Morgan was killed with an axe in the car park of the Golden Lion pub in Sydenham, south-east London in 1987 and in spite of five police inquiries, no-one has been brought to justice.

Priti Patel said they couldn’t ignore the findings of the report and in her statement to the House of Commons said that Mr Morgan and his family deserved better.
