The PM’s chief adviser Dominic Cummings said he behaved ‘reasonably and legally’ and offered no apology in a public statement.
He gave a detailed account of his trips to and from Durham, denying some accusations that he was there after 13 April.
Mr Cummings said he did not tell Boris Johnson about his decision to travel more than 250 miles to his parents’ home in Durham in March.
