Dove Cameron Finally Releasing Original Music!

We’ve been waiting for years and years and Dove Cameron’s first original single is now officially almost here. I am so ready for this you guys!

What’s up? It’s Drew Dorsey here with Clevver News and Dove Cameron just took to Instagram to share the best news I’ve heard all week.

Her new music is officially coming out soon.

I’ve been waiting so long to be able to say that because Dove has been teasing us with music for years but now it’s finally here.

She wrote a lengthy note to her fans on Insta which revealed that her original music will be dropping at the end of her “music month,” during which she’s been sharing covers of her favorite songs.

Dove revealed that the road to her new music hasn’t been the easiest. She’s tried to release songs in the past but it never felt right.

She started by saying quote, “I want to start by saying that I know it’s been 6 years that I’ve been promising (teasing) music.”

Girl we know, I’ve been waiting!

She continued on and said quote, “It’s been the strongest, most varied/twisted journey to get to his point, but I’m so glad that it was. Every time I tried in the past, it was never quite right, and always a compromise of some kind. While this is only the start of it, for the first time in my young career, and life, I finally feel like I see who I am reflected in something I’m sharing with the world, and that’s incredibly gratifying and novel to me, if not a little terrifying/totally humbling.”

And it’s worth noting that Dove is totally pulling a Taylor Swift.

She’s deleted everything off her Instagram besides this latest post, to start this new chapter of her music.

And her friends are just as excited as we are about Dove’s new music.

Her hairstylist commented on her post and wrote quote, “So happy for you!! I can’t wait ??”

And Tommy Dorfman from 13 Reason Why posted a bunch of clapping emojis and kissy faces.

And fans are even more excited.

Twitter is completely blowing up over this new music announcement.

One person wrote quote, “honestly, i don’t care how long we’ve waited, i think the timing is right and if any other time music was released it wouldn’t of been the right timing. everything has fallen into place. this is your time. i can not wait to have the biggest punk princess energy v soon!”

And another fan said quote, “to be able to see this new era finally start is such a wild dream come true. it doesn’t really matter how long it took you, what’s important is that NOW IS HERE. we’re so proud & READYY ♡”

We are sooo ready!

But I’m not surprised the music has taken so long.

Dove is a BUSY woman. She’s starred in musicals around the world like her current project The Light in the Piazza.

We also saw her own the screen in Descendants 3.

So while we haven’t gotten to hear her own original music, we have still been graced with her amazing voice, so I can’t complain too much.

And earlier this summer Dove filled us in on what factors delayed her music.

It had a lot to do with Disney and her ex.

She said quote, “I was working on an independent album when I was younger, that I planned on releasing on my own and then I signed with Disney. We (me and my manger at the time) put off releasing my own music because I was now under contract to be with their label, meaning I would release their music not mine.”

That totally makes sense. If she released the music while under contract with Disney she wouldn’t have full creative control or the rights to her songs.

We love an independent woman, so I respect Dove’s decision to wait.

She continued on to explain how her ex, Ryan McCartan, also had something to do with her music being delayed.

Dove said quote, “I released music with my boyfriend at the time (when I was 18/19/20). When we broke up, I then recorded some things independently again and planned on releasing them. Then I signed with Song/Disruptor about a year ago… now it’s going to be in a few months.”

And at the time, fans didn’t care at all, they wanted Dove to take the time she needed to get the music fully ready.
