Ethiopia-Tigray conflict: Fragile ceasefire after months of violence

Ethiopia’s Tigray region has endured months of violence, but a fragile ceasefire agreement between the government and the Tigray People’s Liberation Front appears to be holding.

Tigray is located in Ethiopia’s far north, near the border with Eritrea and Sudan.

So far around two million people have been displaced from their homes by the conflict, and thousands have lost their lives.

A ceasefire is now in place so farmers can plant crops, but humanitarian agencies are warning millions may still be facing famine.
