Sir Iain Duncan Smith, the former Conservative Party leader, has called for Metropolitan Police commissioner Cressida Dick to step down following the murder of Sarah Everard.
Speaking to Sky News, he said: “I do think that the handling of certain events in London has not been brilliant.
“I think there are issues here about leadership and focus, and I think the Met has to have somebody in charge now who understands the dynamic of what they do, how it works best, and that people can rely on to be forceful when necessary but also helpful and can be trusted.”
Sir Iain added that it is time for a “new broom” in the Metropolitan Police.
