Theirs is a bond like no other. These FDNY heroes all lost a parent in the Sept. 11, 2001 terrorist attacks, inspiring them to become firefighters themselves. Twenty years later, the group gathered at the department training center in New York to share their memories.
“We’re all a family in a different way than anybody else’s,” firefighter Josephine Smith told The Post. “We’ve all lost our parents on 9/11, and we’ve fulfilled their footsteps in carrying out their legacies.”
