Firefighters grapple with raging blazes as wildfires spread in California

Last month was the hottest June ever in North America and now firefighters in California are grappling with the searing heat as they struggle to contain wildfires in the state.

Fires in neighbouring states are threatening California’s power grids and energy operators have asked residents to conserve electricity, to avoid outages.

Sky’s US correspondent Greg Milam reports from Palm Springs in southern California, which hit a record high temperature of 49 degrees Celsius.
