The next generation 2020 Honda Fit (Jazz in global markets) has been teased ahead of its official debut at the 2019 Tokyo Auto Show. One of the most noticeable features on the new car is its length; its nose appears to be longer than the current generation Fit giving it a more car-like profile. The current Fit has a shorter nose that makes it look a little more unusual—even minivan-like in some angles.

Other than the longer nose, the new Honda Fit’s looks appear evolutionary. It’s still got the same upright greenhouse, which should help retain its trademark roomy interior. Earlier this year, we spied the next generation Honda Fit testing in Europe sporting roof rails, Honda’s new corporate grille, and round headlights with halo-like LED accents.

Honda says that the 2020 Honda Fit will be available with the latest two-motor hybrid system. That powertrain combines two electric motors, a lithium-ion battery, and a gas engine. Unlike hybrid systems from other automakers, Honda’s doesn’t use a conventional transmission, relying instead on one of the electric motors to put the power down. For the U.S., expect a conventional gas engine, likely the current 1.5-liter I-4, to carry over with either a six-speed manual or a CVT.
