While Halsey may say she’s “bad at love” in the romantic sense, she’s certainly not bad at loving her fans. And she just opened up about the moment she knew she wasn’t giving her fans what they deserved.
What’s up? It’s Drew Dorsey here with Clevver News and we all know Halsey has been through it when it comes to relationships.
She was on and off with G-Eazy for over a year and it wasn’t an easy break up.
But there was one moment when she realized she wasn’t being authentic with her fans about what she was going through.
It was back in June of 2018, when she performed on Good Morning America belting out her hits but hurting beneath the surface.
And looking back on it, there is something weirdly kind of sad about the performance especially now knowing that Halsey was heartbroken singing a song called “Bad At Love.”
And now she just opened up to our sister publication, Cosmopolitan, about that particular day.
She said quote, “I was doing Good Morning America and I’m in a blonde wig and white patent-leather outfit, twirling around while I’m going through a heinous breakup. I look down and there are these two girls, one with pink hair, one with blue hair, septum piercings, cool as fuck, still loving me, probably knowing what a weird time I’m going through.”
And in that moment, she realized that she wasn’t being authentic and that her fans deserved the real version of her.
Halsey continued on and said quote, “I looked at them, looked at myself in my sparkly Britney Spears outfit, and went, Ohhh no, they deserve way better than this. If those girls can be that brave in who they are, then I owe them better than this homogenized bulls–t.”
But Halsey’s come a long way since that day and she now has a positive outlook on how everything has unfolded.
Looking back she said quote, “But hey…if the worst thing that’s happened to me so far is I wore dumb clothes and dated a sh–ty dude, I think I’m doing all right.”
And with her third album expected to drop this year, her focus is in the right place — on her music.
Halsey is continuing to connect with her fans and herself through her music.
She said quote, “I have bipolar disorder, and I get bored of s–t really quickly. Music is this thing that I get to focus all my chaotic energy into, and it’s not a void that doesn’t love me back. It’s been the only place I can direct all that and have something to show for it that tells me, ‘Hey, you’re not that bad.’ If my brain is a bunch of broken glass, I get to make it into a mosaic.”
And on the love front, we all know Halsey seems to be doing much better. She’s been linked to Yungblood since late last year and she seems to be in a good place.
So I’m just ready for the new album! We ready whenever you are Halsey.
But I want to know what you guys think of Halsey’s honesty.
Do you like when your favorite celebs are honest about what they are going through? And do you wish they would just take time off and not perform when they are hurting?
