Hobbits May Still Roam an Indonesian Island, Scientists Think

Scientists think that hobbits—yes, real-life hobbits—may still be roaming an Indonesian island! These aren’t the ones from The Lord of the Rings, but a tiny human species called Homo floresiensis, nicknamed “hobbits” because of their short height. They were thought to have gone extinct around 50,000 years ago, but some researchers believe they could still be hiding deep in the forests of Flores Island. Locals have passed down stories for generations about small, human-like creatures living in remote areas, avoiding contact with people. Could these tales actually be true? If so, it would be one of the biggest discoveries in history—proof that another human species still walks among us!
