As the UK expands its booster programme, the World Health Organisation’s Executive Director has questioned the strategy, saying he knew of no evidence that booster jabs would provide greater protection for healthy individuals.
Nine new cases of Omicron have been identified in England and one more in Scotland, taking the number of confirmed cases in the UK to 32.
There has been a warning that the new variant could potentially overhwelm the NHS, which is already under pressure.
