Being a relative of a care home resident today means guilt, frustration and fear. With close to 2,400 residents a week dying from the virus and predictions of a death toll higher than in hospitals, the anguish of not being able to hold loved ones is compounded by struggles to find out what is happening inside locked-down homes and concerns about exposure to the virus because of a lack of protective kit.
