Joe Buck thinks he did the best he could, no matter what Giants fans say.
The Fox play-by-play man defended his call of David Tyree’s helmet catch — which the Giants fan base has long contended to be underwhelming — on Monday night’s “Manningcast.” It was a fitting topic of conversation given the man who threw the pass — Eli Manning — was one of the hosts, while the team he threw it against — the Patriots — were playing on “Monday Night Football.”
“When you’re up there and you know you’re doing the game for 100 million people, you’ve to be really sure,” Buck said of the famous Super Bowl XLII play that saved the Giants’ game-winning drive in the 17-14 victory over an undefeated Patriots juggernaut.
