Please grab your tissues and have a seat because I’m so sorry to have to report this tragic news, but Joe Jonas and Sophie Turner’s dog Waldo Picasso was recently hit by a car and passed away.
What’s up guys? It’s Sussan Mourad here with Clevver News and we are here to send our love to Joe and Sophie who just lost their fur baby.
According to TMZ, Waldo was with Sophie and Joe’s dog walker in New York City when quote, “the dog got spooked by a pedestrian, broke free, ran into the street and was struck by a vehicle,” and Joe’s rep is calling it “a freak accident.”
Joe and Sophie are coming off the happiest time of their life with their wedding and honeymoon, but now they are mourning the loss of their dog, and obviously that’s a lot to process.
Apparently the couple is taking it really hard, and I don’t blame them.
Joe and Sophie got the Alaskan Klee Kai puppy back in April 2018, so just a little over a year ago.
And they posted pictures of him on their social media with their other dog, Waldo’s brother, Porky Basquiat.
TMZ also reported that Joe & Sophie reported the incident to the police last Friday, but quote “they delayed filing the report because they were so torn up they had to go to a therapist after the incident.”
This is so sad, we are so sorry for your loss Joe and Sophie.
And apparently the newlyweds won’t be getting much justice in this case.
TMZ reported that the driver who struck and killed the couple’s dog did not stop or leave any info when they hit the dog. And apparently, they just left the scene, which isn’t a crime in New York City.
The driver can’t be criminally charged with Waldo’s death because according to law enforcement the dog is considered property, and the incident is viewed as an accident.
And so the question on everyone’s mind… why didn’t the driver stop?
Well if you’ve ever been to NYC those drivers there can be pretty reckless.
And in Waldo’s case, unaware that they’ve hit something, LIKE AN ANIMAL, so they just keep on driving.
Obviously the driver didn’t intend to hit the dog, he got away from the walker and darted into the street.
New York City is so fast paced, freak accidents like this happen I guess, but jeez isn’t that just awful.
It’s just a sad situation all around really, and we’re really sorry for your loss Joe and Sophie.
But I want to hear from you guys.
Do you have any messages of love for Joe and Sophie? And can you please share some happy pet stories down in the comments below? I’m gonna need it after this one.
