La Palma volcano: warnings of acid rain, toxic gases and rivers of lava

People on the Spanish island of La Palma have been warned about the danger from a new volcanic vent pouring more lava towards populated areas. Officials fear what will happen when the molten rocks reach the sea.

The eruption has destroyed around 185 buildings, most of them people’s homes. Another 1,000 people were evacuated from the island, bringing the total number of people who have left to around 6,000.

Sky’s Ashna Hurynag reports from the island.
