What’s up y’all? It’s Emile Ennis Jr. here with Clevver News and Lil Nas X literally skyrocketed to fame this year with his viral hit, and now he felt comfortable enough to tell the world his truth.
He has hinted about his sexuality in the past on social media, which has led to lots of speculation, but he officially came out as gay on his own terms yesterday in a few Twitter posts. Yesterday also marked the end of Pride Month!
He first wrote quote, “some of y’all already know, some of y’all don’t care, some of y’all not gone fwm no more. but before this month ends i want y’all to listen closely to c7osure.”
So, obviously we did just that.
And some of the not-so-subtle lyrics seem to spell it out.
In the song he says quote, “Ain’t no more actin’, man that forecast say I should just let me grow / No more red light for me, baby, only green, I gotta go / Pack my past up in the back, oh, let my future take a hold / This is what I gotta do, can’t be regretting when I’m old.”
But if that wasn’t enough honest vulnerability for you, Lil Nas X made it very clear in his next post which said quote, “deadass thought i made it obvious” with pictures of a rainbow in his EP artwork.
What a way to end pride month!
And obviously, whatever he is doing is working for him, his song has been number one on the Billboard charts for over 12 weeks.
No matter what his sexuality is, I’m a fan.
Sources told TMZ that Nas realizes there’s a chance that coming out might alienate part of his fan base, but he knows his music crosses many genres, so it’s not like he’s bound to country, hip-hop, or anything specific.
And I agree, I honestly think it would be really challenging to find one person, no matter what their favorite music genre is, who doesn’t know all the lyrics to Old Town Road right now.
So good on you Lil Nas.
And fans and celebs are rallying around Lil Nas X on Twitter.
James Charles, who is also out and proud tweeted quote, “@LilNasX really happy for u dude” with heart and rainbow emojis.
And a fan wrote quote, “@LilNasX Proud of you! Sorry you had to deal with the people trying to force you to say it before you were ready, but I’m so glad you were still able to do it on your own terms!”
TMZ also reported that Lil Nas X hopes he can be a role model for other young people who are afraid to come out. He believes this will give others inspiration.
And I hope it does! You know I love a good pride story. What a great way to start this week off.
Alright guys, now I want to hear from you.
Give Lil Nas X some love in the comments section. And are you ready for some new music from him or what?
