Lil Nas X, who publicly came out as gay in June, just opened up about how he struggled to accept himself and prayed his sexuality would just go away! What’s up? It’s Sussan Mourad here with Clevver News and we all remember that Lil Nas X ended pride month this year by coming out as gay.

He posted on World Pride Day and wrote quote, “some of y’all already know, some of y’all don’t care, some of y’all not gone fwm no more. but before this month ends i want y’all to listen closely to c7osure” with a rainbow emoji.

He later shared a photo of his EP artwork and said quote, “deadass thought i made it obvious”At the time he received tons of support from both fans and celebs. But now Lil Nas X is opening up about his coming out story and how he came to terms with his sexuality on his own.In a preview of his upcoming interview with CBS This Morning, which will air tomorrow, Lil Nas X opened up to Gayle King about his journey.
Gayle asked him quote, “Did you know as a little boy that you were gay? Did you think that as a youngster while people were telling you it’s not a good thing, were you thinking, ‘Yeah, but I think I am?”

He said quote, “Yeah, definitely. I knew. Especially around my teenage years.”Lil Nas went on to explain how he tried to pray that quote, “it would go away.” He went on to explain that while coming out can be easier when you have a big platform, not everyone is so lucky. He said quote, “Me being in this position, like, it’s easy for me. But some little boy 10 miles from here. It’s not gonna be good for him.”

He also explained that he first came out to his father and sister in early June before letting his fans and followers know a few weeks later.Gayle then asked if he thought that him coming out could help others who are struggling with it the way he was.
And he said that while he does think it’s helped, we still have a long way to go.

Lil Nas X said quote, “It’s not like everybody is messing me with me now. ‘Cause of course you know, for somebody listening to me in school right now, it’s like, you know, you’re listening to — you’re gay, ’cause you’re listening to him. There’s still a lot to be done, of course. But I — I do believe it’s helping.”

And we agree, we’re just glad Lil Nas X is comfortable with himself and is living his truth. We love him no matter what! And as much as we love him and his music, it looks like we may not be getting new music for a little while. That’s right, no more Old Town Road remixes for the foreseeable future.

In a tweet on Friday, he said that he was ready to take some time off and announced that he was canceling two upcoming shows at the Sandbox Music Festival in Arizona and at TwitchCon 2019 in San Diego.

He said quote, “it’s been a wild last 7 months and im ready to take a little time off. sorry to everyone attending twitchcon or the sandbox music festival, i will not be there. i love u guys and will make it up to you some way.”

And it’s definitely been a busy year for Lil Nas X. His Old Town Road remix made history by becoming the longest-running number 1 single to ever top the Billboard Hot 100 Chart. It’s not easy topping the charts for 17 weeks! But that one song was hardly his only big accomplishment this year.

He dropped his EP in June, performed at and won Song of the Year at the VMAs, and revealed that he might actually be dating someone.

Yeah you heard me, Nas revealed that he kind of has a special someone in his life on Ellen last week.Without sharing too many details about his personal life, he admitted that he is sort of in a relationship.

He also opened up to Ellen about his sexuality. He said he was worried about how his friends or family might react, but he said he wanted to help some of his young fans who quote, “are gonna have to go through stuff like this in the future.”

But Nas did admit that at one point he thought coming out wasn’t a possibility for him. Growing up, homosexuality wasn’t something that he saw being accepted by his community. He said quote, “It’s something I never probably would have did if I was still living with my parents.” But we are glad that in his success he was able to be more comfortable with himself and hopefully it does inspire someone else to be able to live their truth. But for now, we’re just looking forward to seeing his entire interview with CBS This Morning tomorrow.

I’m sure he will get into all of this and more. But I want to know what you guys think. Were you shocked to hear that Lil Nas X tried to pray that his sexuality would change? And do you like when your favorite stars open up about their personal struggles? Let me know in the comments below.
