Over the last few years, we’ve seen Liza Koshy become one of the most popular names on the internet, but her success didn’t happen overnight. She’s been through a lot while smiling through it on camera.

What’s up? It’s Sussan Mourad here with Clevver News and since the Vine days back in 2013 Liza Koshy has been a household name.

Eventually she made her way over to YouTube in 2015, where she started posting longer videos and we got to see even more of her.

She’s been beloved by fans since day one and the source of so many smiles and laughs.

By 2016, she was influential enough to interview President Barack Obama. And in 2017, she became the fastest YouTuber to reach 10 million subscribers.

So yeah, it’s safe to say Liza is an internet icon.

And now she’s got over 17.9 million Instagram followers and more than 25 million subscribers across her two YouTube channels.

The online fame has brought her opportunities like interviewing the biggest stars on the Met Gala red carpet, contributing on TRL, and hosting Nickelodeon’s Double Dare.

But she wasn’t an overnight success. Liza has worked really hard over the past six years to get to where she is now, and the road to fame wasn’t always easy.

She opened up to our sister publication Cosmopolitan Magazine about feeling pressured to stick to being one version of herself.

She said quote, “There was a point where I was like, I have to be this one person. I have to stay at the same pitch in my voice at all times. Otherwise, people are gonna think I fluctuate in my personality.”

And Liza also opened up about why she started to create characters, including her iconic Jet Packsinkski. Liza said that as she continued to get more and more famous, it seemed to her fans, like she had it all.

But what they didn’t see was her internal struggle with confidence and anxiety that were below the surface.

She said quote, “I was scared to be myself, so I created a character so I could portray that confidence.”

And things got even tougher when she decided to take a different route from her weekly skit/vlog style videos and debut her scripted YouTube original series.

After five years of uploading every single Wednesday and constantly collabing on other channels, her burnout was getting real… so she decided to focus on what she was passionate about — her scripted series.

Liza said quote, “I went into this spiraling dialogue, thinking, people are going to hate me for doing something different. I read things online that weren’t the nicest things, I started being even more judgmental and not so nice in my head.”

And her show was launching right around the same time as her long term relationship with David Dobrik was ending.

Which was a big deal for all of us. Liza and David were one of the strongest, most looked-up to ships on the internet.

So in June of last year, when Liza and David posted a video to his channel announcing that they split up and had been keeping a secret for months…. it was a HUGE deal. I still get emotional every time I watch this video…

I won’t subject you to any more of that sadness.

But when looking back on her relationship with David, Liza said she has no regrets.

She said quote, “I have no regrets, period. Like, I don’t even delete any pictures on my Instagram.”

And she wasn’t lying. She has over 1,700 posts and I saved you some time by scrolling ALLLLL the way back to adorable pics of Liza in high school.

Seriously, these throwbacks are everything.

She really doesn’t delete anything, even all her pics with David.

Liza even recently revealed that she just saw David last week.

On Kevin Nealon’s YouTube show “Hiking with Kevin,” Kevin straight up asked about their relationship status and Liza revealed when she last saw David.

And we can’t get enough of her. I’ve watched all of Liza on Demand season two, and I have to say it’s hilarious.

But I want to know what you guys think. Do you like when your favorite YouTubers open up about their struggles? And have you watched any of Liza on Demand Season 2?
