The chief medical adviser for the United Kingdom has warned that children face greater long term risks from missing school, compared with catching the virus while there. Professor Chris Whitty’s comments came after a joint statement from the top medical officers for all four UK nations – and ahead of millions of pupils returning to classrooms in England, Wales and Northern Ireland.
