Millie Bobby Brown and Netflix just officially posted about the fourth season of Stranger Things, and it looks like things are definitely about to get a little stranger.
What’s up? It’s Sussan Mourad here with Clevver News and I was just casually scrolling through my Instagram feed today minding my own business when I saw a post from Millie Bobby Brown that stopped me in my tracks.
Millie shared a quick teaser both confirming that Stranger Things Season 4 is happening and foreshadowed what it might look like when it finally arrives. She captioned it quote, “We’re Not In Hawkins Anymore” And my jaw literally dropped to the ground. And fans are also shook. They are flooding Twitter with their excitement.
Agreed… where the heck are we going?!
I have so many questions already. So if we aren’t going to be in Hawkins, where is this season going to take place? Wherever Eleven, Will, Joyce, and Jonathan just moved to? Russia? The upside down? feel like the show is definitely going to spend some time in Russia based on that post-credits scene.
And in July one of the show’s creators, Matt Duffer, told Entertainment Weekly that quote, “I think the biggest thing that’s going to happen is it’s going to open up a little bit, not necessarily in terms of scale, in terms of special effects, but open up in terms of allowing plotlines into areas outside of Hawkins.”
But most importantly, when is Season 4 going to come out so I can find all of this out?!
Sadly, no release date was announced yet, but celebs and influencers are equally excited about the teaser trailer. They are flooding the comments of Millie’s post.
I am definitely ready! People are speculating that it likely won’t be until the end of 2020 or 2021. And I actually agree, based on how season 3 ended with the kids all talking about how they wanted to spend Thanksgiving together.
Also each season has kind of been attached to a holiday right? We had Halloween and 4th of July… I could do Thanksgiving of 2020. But hopefully it will be sooner than that, I don’t want to wait that long! And lucky for us, it looks like there is going to be more seasons to come even after Season 4.
Netflix said that more than 40 million accounts watched Season 3 worldwide within its first four days of release, which is HUGE.
I mean when you compare that to how even some of the biggest TV events do, this blows it out of the park.
This year’s Oscars were actually up from the previous year and had 29.6 million viewers. If Strangers Things 3 actually had 40 million accounts watch, that’s numbers that regular TV doesn’t get anymore. So it makes sense that Netflix just confirmed that showrunners and creators, The Duffer Brothers, were signed on to a new multi-year deal… which could be great for us Stranger Things fans.
This could mean more Stranger Things and maybe even more new shows from the Duffer Bros. Netflix said in a statement that quote, “The Duffer Brothers have captivated viewers around the world with Stranger Things and we’re thrilled to expand our relationship with them to bring their vivid imaginations to other film and series projects our members will love. We can’t wait to see what The Duffer Brothers have in store when they step outside the world of The Upside Down.”
In the same statement the Duffer Brothers also said quote, “From our first pitch meeting to the release of Stranger Things 3, the entire team at Netflix has been nothing short of sensational, providing us with the kind of support, guidance, and creative freedom we always dreamed about. We can’t wait to tell many more stories together — beginning, of course, with a return trip to Hawkins!”
Ok so it looks like while we won’t be spending the entire Season 4 in Hawkins, we will be heading back there at some point.
And for those of you who thought this could be the last season, from that Duffer Brothers deal and from what I’ve seen so far, it doesn’t look like it’s going to be.
The official announcement didn’t label Season 4 as the show’s last chapter the way recent Netflix renewal and premiere date announcements for GLOW and BoJack Horseman were tagged with finale language.
But I want to know what you guys think. Were you just as excited as I was to see the Stranger Things Season 4 teaser? And where you do think this season will take place?
Let me know down in the comments below.
