MPs vote for national lockdown in England

England is now entering its second national lockdown after prime minister Boris Johnson announced stricter measures would need to be in place to slow the spread of coronavirus.

Despite Conservative backbench MPs opposing the government’s plan to impose the lockdown, MPs voted in favour of the month-long measures, with Labour MPs supporting the measures.
