Education Secretary Nadhim Zahawi says the vote to reform the parliamentarian appeal process at the same time as Owen Paterson’s suspension ‘was a mistake.’

Owen Paterson was about to begin his 30-day suspension from Parliament for being paid £500,000 to lobby two companies when Tory MPs voted to reform the appeal process..

The government U-turned yesterday and the former Northern Ireland minister resigned.
